Kukka-Maaria Myllymaa is approaching her 20th year at Finnchain. Originally hired as a designer, she now serves as the company’s Chief Operating Officer. In addition to overseeing daily operations, she also handles project management, quality assurance, and occupational safety.
“My role has changed many times over the years. The variety of the work is one of the reasons I’ve stayed so long. But the main reason, without a doubt, is that it’s genuinely enjoyable to come to work. The team is simply fantastic”, says Myllymaa.
“We also have some pretty good employee benefits, like Epassi. With it, you can pay for fitness or cultural activities, and other services. Flexibility is appreciated - one person might want to go to a concert, another to a massage.”
Like Myllymaa, many at Finnchain have seen their roles evolve over time. Some have pursued further education while working and have, for instance, earned engineering degrees.
“But you’re also welcome to stay in the same role here.”

Kukka-Maaria’s daily work routine might not suit everyone.
“In the morning, I might plan to take care of one thing or another. Then those plans change because something more urgent comes up. That’s typical in project-based work. You have to be comfortable with constant change in this kind of role.”
Finnchain has carried out projects on nearly every continent.
“The company is relatively small, but the operations are highly international. That adds a lot of interest to the work.”

“Quality comes above all from expertise and experience, both of which we’ve built up over time. We’ve been making similar equipment for a long time. Technical know-how is crucial when updating and developing our systems.”
Customer quality requirements have become increasingly strict. But the Chief Operating Officer assures this is not a problem.
“We know we’re designing and manufacturing high-quality equipment. It just means we have to measure and document more comprehensively than before.”
