The role of a Managing Director is broad and diverse – sometimes tasks come up that I would never have imagined falling under my responsibility. Most of my work involves business development, but I’m involved in a wide range of areas. My core mission is to ensure that our staff have work to do and the right conditions to succeed and grow in their roles.
CLEARLY AT POINT
When I work in Finland, I’m mainly at our office in Rauma. I live in Aura and usually work remotely about one day a week. Since sales is a significant part of my role, I travel between 40 and 100 days a year—mainly to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

CLEARLY WITH EXPERIENCE
I have a degree in biotechnology engineering. Before joining Finnchain, I worked in the pharmaceutical industry and in manufacturing subcontracting for the automotive sector in various roles.
I started at Finnchain in April 2009 as an Export Manager. Over the years, my market responsibilities changed, and in 2019, I also took on marketing, which is still part of my current role. I began in my current position as Managing Director in July 2024.

I value open and honest dialogue with the staff—whether it's about work matters or personal topics. We have a skilled and warm-spirited team where everyone is accepted as they are. A good atmosphere inevitably shows in the work we do and in the quality of the outcome.
In my own work, analytical thinking, calmness, and strong communication and interpersonal skills are emphasized. This job is, above all, about collaboration between people. Decisions need to be made quickly, and it's essential to be able to respond flexibly to new situations.
Krister Stenbom's days can include anything from strategic planning and management to sales and development - or even going to the installation site at the bottom of the pool in your attention clothes.
