Ecotec – One of the Longest-Standing Distributors of Finnchain: “Many projects in the pipeline at the moment”
Quality and Environmental Manager Jarkko Laanti (left) presented the operations of the Turku Region Wastewater Treatment Plant to Ecotec’s Marc Oliva Vilarasau, along with Finnchain’s Allen Li and Iiro Vahala.
Marc Oliva Vilarasau, the new head of the water division at Spanish company Ecotec, visited Finland to get acquainted with Finnchain’s operations.
“Ecotec is a very important distributor for us. In Spain, there are large international companies in the water sector. Through Ecotec, we started looking for alternative solutions for desalination plants. We ended up choosing a seawater-resistant special steel, super duplex, which is used in the shipbuilding industry. It has clearly paid off. We have received orders and gained new customers as well,” says Krister Stenbom, CEO of Finnchain.
Ecotec is one of the longest-standing distributors of Finnchain. The collaboration began already in the late 1990s.
“At first, they operated only in Spain, but for over a decade now they have had projects in multiple countries. Last year, for example, we received a major order from Australia. Even now, we have a lot of projects in the pipeline,” says Sales Manager Gerald Dippacher.
Desalination is a Growing Business
Desalination plants are currently being designed and built extensively across the world.
“Desalination is a growing business, because there’s a global shortage of usable water,” says Stenbom.
What are Finnchain’s selling points when competing for these global orders?
“The reliability and durability of our scraper systems. Their lifecycle is exceptionally long by global standards,” Dippacher replies.
“The same core ideas have driven us since the beginning of the company. The chain is the heart of the system,” adds Stenbom.
Finnchain’s surface scrapers are excellently suited for the pretreatment phase of desalination, where solid, organic, or oily materials are removed from seawater.
